Helen Keller Recognized as Top Global Charity by The Economist

The Economist recently recognized Helen Keller Intl for our high-impact, cost-effective programs in the article, The Search for the World’s Most Efficient Charities

The piece highlights the charity evaluator GiveWell’s rigorous approach to identifying the most efficient charities in terms of good done per dollar spent.

Since 2018, GiveWell has consistently ranked Helen Keller as a top four charity, touting our vitamin A work as one of the world’s most cost-effective and impactful public health solutions at just over $1 a dose.

Vitamin A is a critical nutritional building block for healthy development, strengthening vision, preventing blindness, and building children’s immune systems. Yet nearly a third of children worldwide are estimated to be vitamin A deficient. In fact, GiveWell attributes over 200,000 child deaths to vitamin A deficiencies every year.

Helen Keller partners with ministries of health and community health heroes to distribute twice-yearly doses of vitamin A to millions of children annually.
