Clear Vision Sets Students Up for Success [Photo Essay]

Clear vision plays a vital role in a child’s education. Research from the International Association for the Prevention of Blindness and the Seva Foundation estimates that a child with poor vision only learns about half as much as a child who can see clearly. But an estimated four million children in the US are living with vision impairment due to an uncorrected refractive error, such as nearsightedness, farsightedness, or astigmatism. Helen Keller Intl partners with schools and community organizations across four states, California, Minnesota, New Jersey, and New York, to provide vision screenings and prescription glasses at no cost to students or their families. By providing the right support at the right time, we can help give students the best chance at success in school and life.
