Continuing the Fight Against Neglected Tropical Diseases [Photo Essay]

The past year has been a rollercoaster ride in the fight against neglected tropical diseases, bringing unforeseen challenges as well as unexpected optimism. In early 2025, we witnessed the abrupt termination of US foreign assistance funding. With it, neglected tropical disease treatment screeched to a halt, putting the lives of more than 100 million people at risk in the countries where we work and threatening to backslide on decades of progress.

Despite uncertainty, our generous, courageous community of supporters stepped up. We have seen an incredible response from donors over the last several months. From giving to restart neglected tropical disease work through Project Resource Optimization and the Kristof Impact Prize to those giving unrestricted support to advance the fullness of our mission, we are beyond grateful. You have allowed us to continue critical nutrition and neglected tropical disease support for another year.

While this funding does not replace the predictable year-over-year funding we received from the US government, it provides a bridge, allowing us to plan for the future and continue progress towards eliminating these blinding and debilitating diseases.
