Making Lymphatic Filariasis a Thing of the Past
Lymphatic filariasis, a parasitic neglected tropical disease that can cause debilitating symptoms, used to be a fact of life in Sidimoukar, Burkina Faso. But with the advent of mass drug administration campaigns several decades ago, the disease began to infect fewer people. Today, most young people learn about the disease in school and have never experienced it firsthand.

But with recent drastic cuts to funding for many of these campaigns, we risk losing our hard-won gains – just a few years without drug campaigns could allow these diseases to rebound rapidly.
Watch our video to learn how lymphatic filariasis has faded into memory for many in Sidimoukar, and how we can keep it from resurging.
