Supporting Healthier Pregnancies with Prenatal Vitamins in Cambodia

Multiple micronutrient supplements are comprehensive prenatal vitamins that contain 15 essential vitamins and minerals. They have been shown to provide superior benefits compared with iron-folic acid, which has been the standard prenatal supplement in many countries for decades. The new pill supports healthier pregnancies by contributing to improved maternal nutrition and reduced risks of adverse birth outcomes such as preterm birth, stillbirth, low birth weight, and small-for-gestational-age birth.

Helen Keller Intl, with support from the Eleanor Crook Foundation and as part of the Transforming Lives Through Nutrition consortium, is supporting a dozen countries in Africa and Asia, including Cambodia, to transition from iron-folic acid to these new prenatal vitamins to improve the health of both moms and babies.
